We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to be based in our Sydney CBD offices to work on a wide variety of major projects -- approvals and environmental impact assessment processes, with a focus on infrastructure, energy (including renewables), resource & construction sectors.


As a Senior Environmental Planner, your technical consulting and client relationship skills will support the growth of our business and client base.


You will contribute to the delivery of environmental projects with a focus on statutory approval processes, construction management and environmental compliance.

Position overview:
  • Development environmental impact assessments and managing complex approvals processes.

  • Assist in Project management of multiple projects within scope and budget and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients.

  • Preparing (and coordinating) Environmental impact assessments and reviewing technical studies/design drawings;

  • Statutory approval processes

  • Strong knowledge of NSW & Commonwealth Environmental Legislation

  • Construction & Environmental compliance

  • Supporting integrated approvals processes (federal, state and local) 

  • Provision of expert planning and environmental advice to support project acquisitions, feasibility assessment and approval pathways;

  • Post approval, construction & operational activities, inc. but not limited to preparation of management plans, construction and operation auditing

  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients on projects

  • Maintain awareness of changes to legislation and policy and improve technical ability.

 

A solid understanding of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation would be ideal. Core tasks will include writing internal and client correspondence and reports, data interpretation and analysis as well as mentoring junior team members. Site meetings will be required occasionally.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning / Management or related disciplines or a similar, relevant degree

  • Minimum 7 years’ demonstrated experience in statutory and environmental planning, environmental management, site management, compliance monitoring / reporting and impact assessment

  • Working knowledge of relevant NSW & Commonwealth Environmental legislation / regulations

  • Experience in Environmental civil construction, and / or the resources sector is desirable

  • A proven ability for delivering high-quality work, solid client relationship and business development skills

  • Superior writing, communication, presentation, negotiating, lateral thinking, & people skills.


Your "outside the box" thinking, solid planning and implementation skills will be a huge asset in this role along with the ability to establish strong relationships with our Clients.
